[TheForge] OT Wood Stove for Shop heat

Bill, we heat our house with wood (Maine). Not that that makes me an
expert, but it gives me an excuse to be opinionated.

Maybe obvious, but your stove will be much more controllable and
efficient if you use an air-tight stove with thermostatic control of
air. It will only burn as hot as you have set, at a controlled rate.
Without a thermostat, it will just burn away until the wood is gone.
With a thermostat you can pile wood in the stove, set and forget (after
you learn where to set it).

Secondary air is also supposed to be a good thing.

You will need a place to stack the wood, with some kind of roof to keep
the rain and snow off. You can go thru a fair bit of wood...

You will also want a fan or two to move the heat around. Last count, we
have six, I think (but that is in a house with lots of rooms).

I going to try to heat my shop with a wood stove. I need to heat approx. 18K cubic feet or 1500 sq. ft. Is anyone heating that kind of area with a wood stove?
