[TheForge] Horiz Band Saw, welding

Hello
I have purchased a NEW 5" X 6" Horiz. Band Saw, am a little
disappointed. As I was setting up the blade support bearings, just for
the fun of it I spun one..of the six bearings three were in dire need of
replacement. The store has the parts on order.   


As a beginner ...Would it be to my benefit to mix a quantity of the
chips from the sawing with borax, this to help with the welding
procedure ?

If yes is the answer what would be the ratio ?
