[TheForge] 2008 conference alternatives

 I know that ABANA already does some funding of regional conferences.  For 
2008, can ABANA choose about 3 or 4 outstanding regional North American 
conferences and promote them, with substantial and generous magazine 
features, free advertising,  and extra funding?   - something like CanIron, 
SOFA, a CBA event and another one perhaps in the Southeast.

Somehow these outstanding conferences could be promoted as the major North 
American conferences affiliated with ABANA, a place for members to get 
together and learn.

It's getting late to put together a national conference and as I understand 
it, I don't think the Board has a plan on how to hand over the reins to a 
regional group.
