Oh that's easy.  You just need a machine that has a couple "hands" to pat the dough, and a mouth to spit on the hands...

I don't know about impractical. I bet it'd be the bomb
for kneeding dough and could even be adapted to rolling
tortillas.

The animation was jerky for me too, but I get the idea.
I can see why it was never used in any practical
application.
