[TheForge] TIG Welder

My 304XMT inverter will go down low, as well as up to at least 300 amps.
I have never needed REALLY low amperage- even patching 18ga, or on one
occasion, 22 ga stainless, you can set the amperage to 50 amps or so,
then use the foot pedal to taper it down.
5 amps is micro tig territory- extremely thin sheet metal, literally
often done under a dissecting microscope. Unlikely you will need that.

I use my tig machines for stick welders, though, and sometimes we do
turn em up all the way. I usually only stick weld if its over 1/2"
thick, and things like 1" plate like a lot of amps.
The other thing that sucks up the amps is pure copper. We did a big
copper job a few years ago, and had the sycnrowave 250 turned up all
the way, which was probably close to 300 amps, just to weld two pieces
of 1/4" copper together.

But for 90%, probably 95% of our work, 200 amps is adequate.

Unless you are planning on doing a lot of really big stuff, 200 amps
should do you.
