[TheForge] Moloch, pickle problem

Robert,
Nowlemesee, my 1/2 ton pick-up will hold the 25, and my little flat-bed trailer will hold the 50 and the 100, but not the 250. Or, I could get the 250 and leave the 50 and 100. Jeez! Too many choices! I just can't decide. And I wouldn't want to break up the family. I'll let you know. ;-)
Aubrey

Wow! An ice storm. Aubrey you better pack up your family and head back
towards the valley! And when you get to Uvalde, I'll help you load up the
4 Little Giant Trip Hammers you were wanting!!

Just rub it in Robert! I used to live in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, and I
miss it on days like these!
My power went off this morning at 4:56, but I was already awake to the
sounds of gunshots all around my house -- I thought I was in Bagdad. The
gunshots turned out to be hundreds of tree limbs snapping under the weight
of ice. Fortunately, no trees fell on my house or truck. I can take the
cold, but no shower and no coffee! That brutal!

Seems to us like it's freezing here also in South central Texas! Drizzle
(yuck), and cold, cold temps (60's). I think I'll load up the family and
head out due South, until I find some rain forrest and banana trees.

James,
That's a good suggestion. But, I have already tightened the ram gibs. They
was quite a bit of slop in the ram when I first got the hammer. But, now,
after adjusting, they move smoothly throughout their range with almost no
slop at all. I'm thinking spring tension may be one key to my problem, but
I'm not sure.
Today it is 24*F and icy here in Norman (not too far north of you). I got
some more K1 for my heater so I may get out to the shop this afternoon.

Moloch,
I have a 25 # Moloch, when it does the bang/tap, I tighten the hammer
guides (the parts that are on each side that the parts slide in). They
always work loose after a while. Or, depending on the size work I am
doing, I will raise /lower the hammer on the flywheel. Good luck.
