Mike,
I think you're right on the money. A needle scaler
would be perfect for this. But I don't have one...
Better to prevent the problem in the first place. I'm
thinking of pickling first to get clean metal then
using some flux other than borax. I may work in a gas
forge (where I'd have the heat) and use copper wire as
brazing compound.
