Hey Terry,
Around here there are folks with wood mizer portable band mills that will 
come to your place and cut it for a reasonable price.  Some of them will cut 
it no charge if they get to keep half the wood.
If you still want to cut it yourself with a chain saw jig, make sure you get 
some chains ground for ripping wood instead of the standard cross cut 
design.
It's  really a whole lot of work to do it yourself.
I would pick out the sections of the logs, like crotches and knots, that 
could yield interesting wood grain that make good knife handles.
