An odd thought just crossed my mind w/ Re: reducing large stock to small.

Commercially, this is done using rolling/slitting mills - a pair of driven rollers that compress and/or shear the hot steel being pulled through.

Now, roller mills for cold-working precious metals are fairly common, and small enough for use in a small jewelrymaking studio.

What I'm wondering is whether a comparable small roller mill could be constructed (easily) for use on hot iron.

Any thoughts?
