The whole title thing is most useful to get the foot in the door.
It becomes progressively less important as one has more work out there.
Word of mouth and pieces visible prove far more than paper of any kind.

In my day job, most of my work comes from "This guy really bailed me out
of a problem", "He'll figure it out and get it done.", "He really swept
up at the end of the day". " He explained to me just what I was getting."
etc. etc etc.

Being an "expert" in anything equals quality results from experience.
Sooner or later folks recognize good results.

Just a humble tinner speaking of course. No degree,no official
apprenticeship. It still makes me feel good when an architect calls me
up to proof read sheet metal details on a building plan . You'd be
surprised the things that they neglect to put in.
