[TheForge] coke vs. coal

Hi.  I was subscribed to this forum once, then left, and am now back on.   I always appreciated the input from here.
Ok, a short question, how about coke vs. coal?  I can get either, with the coke being close price wise, but needs to be broken up.
I really don't mind the smell of coal at all, but I'm guessing that there's more to it than just the volatile gasses.  Is there a really big reason for using coke?
