[TheForge] the irony - illinois electrical rates

I used to live in Columbus, Ohio, the home of AEP. At
those times, like last year, I ran an all electric
house on the monthly budget for about $100 a month. My
house was huge, 4 level split 4 bedroom. I didn't
freeze in the winter or fry in the summer, just had
good electric rates and a good insulation rework on
the place.

Now I live in the land of energy CoOps and within 40
miles of power generating plants and a large natural
gas reserve, and pay higher rates.

I want to switch my 15Kw generator over to propane for
when I need to use it. We have switched out most of
the light bulbs for fluorescents, and I try other
conservation methods. My other half has found out the
hard way, she complains about being cold and wants to
turn up the thermostat, she is paying the bill. At
least she is set up on the budget this year.

I still like Steve McVoy's idea about the giant magnet
behind the power meter, that he hides with the frig.
