Thanks for everyone's feedback. I did some ball-park calculations of
heat loss/etc for the shop and the cost in propane isn't going to be
as bad as I feared. I think I'll try one of those direct vented
heaters, and see what the gas company will do with regard to getting a
seperate tank at a higher pressure.
