I might take a hybrid of this and use a 30 gallon oil drum. I saw some
instructions on the web. I called some truck tire shops and they said no
problem for the wheel they just didn't have any at that time. So I will see
what I can get first.

Thanks everyone
Martin

i have two post vises mounted.

post vise mounts:
100 lbs propane cylinder cut at 32 inches.
the cut edge was rounded over using a grinder and files.
a wooded plug was made from 2x8 lumber.
3 layers of 2x8 bolted together with seams and joints staggered.
the post vise is bolted to the wooden plug the bottom of the propane
cylinder is filled with sand.

if you want to you can drill a number of holes in the cylinder walls for lag
screws. the lag screws would secure the wooden plug inside the cylinder.

easy to move with a dolley.
