[TheForge] Gotta froze-up Champion blower

Actually, dishwasher (crystal) detergent is a good choice, as it
contains detergent that will help remove grease, and washing soda. The
enzymes won't be much help, though...

I might be wrong on the polarity but, dish washing soap works very
well.
Pure water does not conduct electricity very well and all the stuff in
the
dishwashing soap does. The soap is a mild base. (lots of chlorine).

Isn't that the other way around? I think electricity flows from
negative to
positive.... "Attach the object being cleaned to the negative..." per
"The
Stove Bolt Page". And it says use Arm & Hammer washing soda, but plain
baking soda will work if you don't have washing soda. Google
electrolytic
rust removal- click on Stove Bolt - It's a resource for restoring old
Chevys. Lots of interesting stuff.

If you can run it through the dishwasher fist. Check with the spousal
unit
first. This swill remove any vestige of solid gunk. Next get a plastic
pail
that is big enough to submerge the blower in. Mix 1 cup of
dishwashing
powder ( automatic type) with some boiling water mix until dissolved.
Attach your battery charger to the blower positive lead and the
negative
lead to a sacrificial piece of metal. Cove with water until it under
about 2
inches. Let sit for a couple of days. The loose crud on the surface
will
be attracted to the negative lead. This should free up any bearings
and
threads on the unit. There are several web pages that cover this
procedure.
I have used it to free up pieces that have been severely rusted with
no
damage to the parent metal.

Lou,
I have had good luck by dunking frozen parts in the
electric derusting bath. It can't hurt and may free it
up. If you don't know about the 12 volt derusting bath
let me know and I'll look up a copy.
