I recall reading about some research where they were hearing
common garden type sulfur in 55 gal drums to 250 or so F.Then
adding plaster of paris ( that had been exposed to air so that it
had absorbed some moisture without setting up solid) mixing it
in, in handfuls. Then they stirred hard.The moisture in the
plaster caused the molten sulfur to foam up and they poured it
into a pad to go below the cement slab. It cooled and set pretty
quick into a stiff, insulating, waterproof insulating foam...PRF
