Hmmmm. Any END to comments on gas forges? <grin>

According to: the fire chief who responded to our fire, the independant
certified inspector who checked out the stack and recertified it as safe and
the furnace service guy we have out every year, any appliance burning a
hydrocarbon CAN produce a creosote-like substance that can be a fire hazard.

I HOPE I worded the last overly long sentence so as to avoid another bout of
semantics. And NO they were NOT talking about soot.

Anyway, if it burns and the exhaust goes up a pipe, stack, etc. it CAN build
up a tarry flamable substance generically known to the industry as creosote.
Propane or natural gas have a much lower porportion of C to H in the mix so
they deposit less crap in the same time. Flue, chimney, etc. fires are very
rare with gas appliances.

I intend to attempt venting the exhaust hood for my propane forge into my
floor exhaust system to recoup heat to the floor.

Of course you may've expected different comments regarding gas forges but I
thought I'd stick with the topic.
