I don't know how carbon effects it but am happy to accept it as is. My 
observations were just that, I tried it a few times when I bought my 
oxy/prop rig.

I have much better alternatives to gas welding in virtually any 
circumstances and haven't done so in decades.

The paycheck job excepting, I don't use acetylene at all.
