However, the predictably hysterical reaction of everyone from your local 
fire marshal to your insurance agent would make it a problematic fuel source 
for a forge :)

Something tells me this might not be a good idea, but you never know...

Has anyone has used gasoline as a fuel? I know they still make those
old-style brazing burners. Has any one hooked something like that up to
make a forge? I'd bet you could hook up an old fuel-injection unit
easily enough.

I imagine you could get pretty fancy -- A blown, fuel-injected,
turbo-charged, dual overhead cam, 400+ H.P. forge!

I use regular olive cooking oil for my lamp.  It takes a little to light
it, but will burn all night using a wick of mop string.
  I can remember my parents' kerosene heater.  Made the room toasty
warm.  I could see with some forced air a very hot flame.
