Casting really isn't suited to saws.  The grain structure isn't optimal. 
  One thing you *could* do is do a partial-birth casting.  Object is 
cast in a form that would then be forged to completion.  For example, 
you could have areas with art figures cast in place but the bow or frame 
would be short, thick, and stubby.  The frame would then be forged into 
final shape, giving that structural component the requisite strength.

Oh, as to the "partial-birth" thing... I was thinking partial-birth 
abortion... morbid, yes, but I don't know the proper technical term for 
a forged casting, so I made up my own. :)
