When the shaft separated the prop would have pulled out the back end
of the ship maybe all the way out! Due to the drag on the prop. This
happened to a submarine in the Med. I don't know if it was smooth
break but.it did not pull all the way out it did rip out the shaft
seals and there was massive flooding almost caused a loss of ship
incident.

Frankly it sounds like a sea story to me.

According to Rob, the one in the Med, shaft didn't pull completely out,
although it pulled back to the shaft seal housing and did damage, but wasn't
destroyed- was able to be dealt with with emergency repairs. Was at a
coupling, not the shaft itself- he saw it. Looked distincly odd when it got
back to the Orion, but got back under its own power.

Don't like getting old? Beats the Hel out of the alternative.

The purpose of life is not to arrive at the grave, a beautiful corpse, pretty
and well-preserved, but to slide in sideways, thoroughly used up, totally
worn out, proclaiming, "Wow! What a ride!"
