>From what I've heard and doing a little spark testing tend to believe is:
Tire tools used to be med/high C steel but now aren't made from anything
consistant. Anything from 1045 low alloy to high alloy tool steel, whatever
was in the bargain bag when the factory ordered.
Spark and heat treat testing is in order for whatever you find. (IMHO)
