Don,
The problem is in the replaceable tip not the ground, remove and try
cleaning the tip with one of the tip cleaners for a cutting torch, or just
replace the tip. I keep box of expendables around for just such problems.
The least bit of wear or a burr or something and mig acts up.

Subject: [TheForge] Trouble shooting welder

Hoping for some advice on a problem with my very old, much used Hobart 250
mig welder. Whenever I pull the trigger the wire burns right up to the
nozzle
with a flash of blue light. I have tried making sure I have a good ground
and
filed clean the copper grounding clamps. But that didn't help.

Kindest thanks for any suggestions.

Don Plummer
