You know Bruce I wrote a long reply in the same spirit as your post. I'm not
sending it though simply because I'm sure everybody here recognizes your
typical double standard based bloviation and is just as impressed as always.
First you take exception to a generic term used by certified professionals
to describe many different but similar combustion byproducts.
Then you take exception when I point out that another commonly used generic
term also refers to many different but similar compounds.
I'm not going to argue the point with you Bruce. In fact I don't plan on
responding to you again when you're trying to prove how smart you are by
playing dumb.

Lampblack. AKA soot. Don't know how tarry it is, but it definately sticks
to glass.
No caffeine in tea? Where did you come up with that? AFAIK, there is
caffeine in tea. Also theobromine, and probably a lot of other stuff as
well.

I think you're probably right but more than soot will form. The furnace guy
called it creosote but it's probably a tarry carbon gunk based stuff that
only looks like creosote.
It's like saying Tea has caffeine. Technically it's not caffeine but it's
close enough to be a quibble unless it's a technical discussion.
