UMBA is talking about having a tire hammer build also sometime this year
at Elkhorn Wis.
But again this is only in the very first stages of talk
I am thinking of building at least one and I already have two 25# LG,
two 50# LG and a 250# Murray hammer.
I still think this is the best 50# mechanical hammer I have ever watched
run
www.umbaonline.org then the library has a DVD-R of Clay and the hammer
at Alabama forge council conference.
The web page doesn't list it yet but hopefully this week it will
It is RD105 and has about 3 hours of Clay demonstrating and another 3
hours of Joe Miller, Brasstown, NC doing hollow iron things.
The video shows close ups of the hammer working and no pictures of how
it was built and no plans are available from Clay either so you need to
sign up for a workshop and build your own.
Cost is $7 for the first and $5 each DVD-R in the rest of the order.
This includes postage and you don't send them back.

Power hammer workshop in Tallahassee: The target date is May 26, 27 & 28
for a build in Tallahassee, Fla. at Mike Bettenger's welding shop. His
e-mail is bmchild2 at aol.com if any one is interested. We could do it for
less if we had a source for cheaper-than-new 6"x36" steel, square or
round.

I have returned home from the Alabama Forge Council conference where I
got the opportunity to watch Clay Spencer run a shop made #50 mechanical
hammer made with a emergency spare tire as the clutch. He gave the name
of the inventor several times but I don't remember it at the moment.
