Thank you for the latest info all.  Something interesting, I got a private email from someone saying that one entire issue of "Blacksmiths Journal" was devoted to this exact thing, but he didn't know the year or month.  I have a pretty good stack of them, and will go through some this evening and see if I can find what he's referring to.
