Hey All,
I have a job where I need to make some table legs, they need to be stout
to keep a granite top from swaying. The legs will have no cross support
other than at the top, although the bottom of the legs will be anchored
into the floor. The client wants, maybe rope legs with a basket in the
middle. I was thinking a basket made from at least 4 stands of 5/8"
solid round (mild steel). The legs maybe 2-3 inch in diameter, twisted
from several strands of solid round mild steel. No problem getting the
twisted material for the main body of the legs but I have not found a
source for a basket made from such "massive" material. Any suggestions?
I have a source for baskets made from 4 strands of 1/2" solid round, and
maybe after I weld and wrap to hide the welds, the legs will be resistant
to swaying?
BTW I don't have the tools or capacity to make baskets out of 5/8" solid,
or maybe I do?
Thanks,
Jeff in Phoenix
