There is no safe place. That said, it is clear that some places are
less safe than others, at least in less-than-geological times frames.
The hurricane belt is, on the average, more hazardous than other places
like Seattle. Doesn't mean Seattle can't be wiped off the earth, but
places like Seattle do not experience regular devastation the way places
like Florida do. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure out that on
the whole and in the shorter term, living in a place like FL is riskier
than WA fro the standpoint of severe weather.
I don't think that taxpayers should be forced to bail out other
taxpayers. If they volunteer, that is fine, but forcing them is
contrary to everything the notion of liberty stands for.
I'm all for the people of NO rebuilding if that is what they choose. It
is their right to do it and I wish them all success. But I don't
support the use of tax money for it.
