Iron ring on the horn, held in place with a throttle spring from the
ring to the stump/stand.  If I need that spot on the horn, it can be
swept out of the way with a quick motion of the hand, then replaced
during the next heat.  The anvil's ring.  Set a thief to catch a thief.

I suspect that if you were to set a 6' piece of 12"x12" solid bar in
the ground on end and weld your anvil to it it wouldn't ring and would
rebound very nicely.  Now where did I put that piece 12" square....?
