I was comparing this plant with the ones I remember from films past and
marveling at how clean and relatively safe it looked.
When Russell lanced the tap plug there was a serious shower of sparks and
later when the lance was applied to the iron melt the shower was several
times more intense. Still, it was nothing compared to some of the shows put
on in bessemers and other open hearth iron melters.
I found this gem by searching, iron melter, no quotes or such to keep the
search terms as broad as possible. I was actually hoping to hit a couple
backyard iron caster's sites. Marshall's came up of course and I'll buy his
book and CD one of these days but I was hoping for something new. I got it
too. <grin>
New Zealand Steel entertained me for several hours and will be a regular
rainy day visit. I'm just not sure how much help it's going to be when I
start playing around casting iron cook ware and such. <grin>

If it ain't forged
it ain't real.
Wrought iron is.
