[TheForge] Cool film clips from down under

It's always interesting to see or hear about someone who's down a "bloom"
and come out with a thimbel full of iron for six cords of firewood (slight
exageration there)- then you look at the size, magnatude, danger, and scale
of the equipment that it takes to do laddle pours of iron and it's pretty
awesome.
You can see as soon as they turn on the lance the reason for the shields,
suits, and mud guns. Pretty neat gadgit that slides over, sticks it's head
in a molten metal pour and stuffs it full of fast freezing mud. Neat stuff.
Makes me realize or appreciate the material I have to work with - and not
having to go thru the hoopla of making it !! ..........but the process is
fun to watch.
...............I was wondering how you came up with this address now that
it's not winter............ now we have to call it Random Surfing Safaris
instead of Cabin Fever. :-) We have one more week of no bugs - this
spring has been so nice that I've got next winter's wood all cut, the
gardens cleaned up, and the fields put back together of fallen debris and
plowing divots replaced (very similar to backhoe golf). Last Spring was
horrible how long it stayed cold and rainey - this one feels pretty good so
far.
I also think I like listening to the New Zealand accent as much as the
steel process. I just finished my fifth job for two (relocated) New Zealand
Heart Surgeons. (Husband and wife in similar trade) Going to their place
is a treat to listen to the accent. Good break from the New England
cantations. Makes you listen and enjoy as well as realize how many
variations of the english language there are.

You bet Ralph it was just another happy result of one of my random surfing
safaris. I haven't had time to go through all the clips, just the slag
tapping so far. I really like his fire suit, seems appropriate when oxy
lancing.
