John,

Depending on the part of the country you are in, there are used cranes for sale at auction all the time. 

When I build a new shop with a crane I will shop for the crane and then size the columns and rails to fit.

For reference the last new crane I installed in my day job was a 10 ton bridge crane that cost $60K installed.
