Rick,
I did a few minutes' research and discovered tis link, which references
MIG welding copper. Check your local welding supplier...you might be
able to get mig wire after all. You'll need a hand spool gun, like for
aluminum.

I also recall reading somewhere that welding fumes and particulate from
grinding copper are more hazardous to your health than steel. In my
5-minute search I found only one document on the subject of copper
welding fumes and it only mentioned metal fume fever, but I think I
recall that copper can be a carcinogen. Might be worth doing a little
more reading on the OSHA or MSDS sites, or at least wearing a dust
mask. Just a heads up.
