Rick,

In Rick Jay's copper rose class a few years back we brazed the rose to the
stem and the leaves to the stem (stem is a thick piece of copper wire like a
telephone pole ground wire) using an acetylene torch and a brazing rod that
I think he referred to as a copper phos rod.  I think you can get them thru
Holox or on the web.  It was a copper color so it blended in well.
