Actually, not too long ago a person on Sword Forum International did a
scientific study on non-toxic finishes. What he discovered was that
mineral oil and petroleum jelly were INERT (non-toxic to humans) AND
provided the longest and most complete coverage against oxidation.
We use a light coating of mineral oil on our utensils especially if they
are to be stored over a long period of time waiting to be sold.
