Jerry,
Four legs each with a loop in one end and a point on the other end. One spit
that just fits through the loop on the legs.
Slide the spit through the loops on all four legs and with two legs on each
end, spread each pair to form a bipod and kick the ends out to put tension
in opposite directions on the spit. If the surface doesn't allow the points
to dig in, add a spreader chain to each leg pair to prevent them from
spreading out to far.
This would disassemble into a flat package for transport.
