Tod, I use that 167 lb anvil that your talking about. I picked it up in
Kentucky at the ABANA conference when Old World set up there. I use a 1 1/2
lb and a 2 lb cross pein most of the time - and rarely use a striker. I'm
not sorry I purchased that anvil at all. I love the square tail - and the
two large holes in the face for tooling and punching.
If you buy one - remind me to send you a picture of a nice (and easy to
make) hold down, chisel plate, fixture I came up with.
It is a nice anvil for the price. The face is not rock hard - but then
neither have the Pedinghaus or Nimba's I've seen in this area full of dings
in the face.

I have a very pleasant dilemma. I get to pick out which anvil I get for
Christmas. I need to keep the cost to value ratio in check though. Does
anyone have, use, or know about the "Two Horn Classic" anvil that Old
World Anvils has on the web site? I like the design, and price but would
like to hear from anyone that has used this anvil. What about size I was
looking at the #167 anvil what is the benefit of larger? I am hand
hammering usually just myself occasionally a striker for larger projects.
I have been using an old Hay Budden and Yes I am keeping the old anvil as
my traveling anvil.
