Hi Mike, I can't help you much on the crank/ratchet style blower as I had
one missing a couple parts and tossed it years ago as I never ran into one
in five years to find pieces to fix it.
The drill press however is another matter. I took a morse taper spindle in
a Jacobs chuck and cut it to a straight shank. Those aren't hardened from my
experience and if you put the drill chuck into the chuck on the lathe - you
can turn the morse taper into a straight shank in short order (if you have a
lathe - or know someone with one).
You'll find when the chuck is in the hand crank drill - it not only acts as
a drill, but placing a tap in said drill press makes for a nice taping
machine. Chuck holds tap, leave ratchet pawl off, crank threads thru a
drilled hole, against the table with the hole in it ..........or the split
fork some presses come with.

I swapped off an Acadia single-banger today for a Wisconsin VF4 and
got a nice post drill and a cute litle forge thrown in. It has a lever
and ratchet to drive the little blower. But I don't think all the
parts are there. It doesn't quite make sense as it is.

If you've seen one of these complete I'd be happy to have a
description of how it was set up.
The post drill is pretty nice, has ball thrust bearings. One part is
broken but it will just reduce the max travel of the drill bit by an
inch. Anbody know if you can buy a Jacobs chuch with a straight 1/2"
shank? Or a 1/2" rod with a Jacobs taper on one end? This has just a
set screw attachment for an old pre-Jacobs post drill chuck.
