ok, talking about fuel prices....

Does anybody know anything about biodiesel? As we move toward rurally
based financial intransigence, we've been thinking more and more about
how to live on the stuff people toss out (that's part of what pleases
me about blacksmithing, actually, the idea that you can take junk that
somebody welded up and end up with a set of 2" balls...or one,
anyway...)

...

Right, sorry, got side tracked, couple beers after a loooooong
conference call. Oh, so looking forward to not having those.

...

ANyway, I read an article about a guy who went around and collected the
grotty old oil from the fast food places and made diesel out of it in
his back yard. Haven't done a lot more research on it, but it sounds
like a cool idea--get paid to make fuel. Now, anything that sounds too
good to be true probably is, but at the same time as has been noted
here recently waste culture is all the rage and that bodes well for
scavengers like me (a girlfriend of old used to refer to me--lovingly,
at the time--as a cockroach, because I could live on nothing just about
anywhere and was hard to kill--description probably fits a lot of you
out there in listenerland. Jeez blacksmiths are a good lot...).

Damn, happened again.

So...anyone had experience distilling diesel from french fry oil? Seems
like the modern equivalent of alchemy at this point.

Oh hey, found a trailer, inspected (thanks Frosty) for 1800 bucks.
Storage is 100 bucks for the year. Fingers crossed the thing doesn't
leak. Out of this house in 20 days I hope. Back home next year, but no
busses. Man, I read that whole misadventure (I never miss an issue).
School busses were my plan. Thanks for saving me the agony....

Cheers,

Justin.
