[TheForge] Military truck capacity--EGRESS/more on long
haultrucking (OT)

Some of you talk about containers for storage but I think you would be
better off putting up a pole building. A long skinny space just doesn't
work for storage unless you just have small items that you can rack on both
sides. You need at least a 3' aisle for access and that doesn't leave
enough room on both sides. Seems like every time I see one of these used
for storage, it's got some junk on the floor and only the last 8' is
accessible.
A 24'x24'x8' pole kit with metal roof and walls is advertised here for
$3000. A lot more usable space and for another 3k you can have a concrete
floor and probably some power. $300 more for wood siding and shingle roof.
Another problem with a container is if it is acceptable where you are going.
Not only by zoning but also by your neighbors. If it's a savings to use a
container then that probably makes sense but otherwise, I would look at
other my other options too.

Thanks, Reis. Seems to be the consensus. I can get a chassis and container
in my driveway for 6400 bucks, and the estimate is 4k to haul it. It's about
the same as a moving company minus the storage, and then I get a good
storage unit.
