IMHO, the Czech cast steel anvils are a good value
(I've had two).  Their one drawback is that they are
slightly soft.  A typical scenario for me is to forge
something hot, let it cool, and do the final
straightening cold.  Cold work will mark the face of
these anvils.  

Also IMHO, I think Peddinghaus anvils are THE finest
anvils still made today (I've had two of these as
well).
