NYC politics sucks and has sucked since I was a little kid, you know...
back before christ... A liberal craphole that rewards sleaze and sloth
and strikes against all who think with good force and work hard. Were I
in SI. I'd move to secede.

There's a lot to recommend NYC, but there's also a lot that doesn't.
Unless I had a ten-figure bankroll and could live atop a lofty tower on
Sutton Place, I don't think I'd go back to live there. But it's still a
good place to visit; and work if you're a contractor, but if you're W-2
you get waxed a third time for the extortionate city taxes. It's
ridiculous.

What if all the people on SI just said "screw you" and refused to
comply as a borough of the City? What could anyone do? Arrest the
entire borough? There has to be at least half a million residents on
the Island. There's not enough jail space across the entire nation to
lock them all up.

It already does and has for at least 10 to 20 years. It was like that
when I was trying to get a teaching position at New Dorp. That one big
area of wood has been reduced in size, has it not? And when they close
Fresh Kills, you know they're going to put a hundred thousand low cost
condos on at least part of it.
