You can buy sheet stainless in a brushed finish- my local supplier
carries it, and I have had it custom made in oddball sizes- I needed a
lot of 3/8" plate once, with a brushed finish both sides, and found a
supplier with a 4 foot wide, dual head belt sander that sanded both
sides of the sheet at once.
There is a commercial unit, kind of like a grinder with a special head
on it, for doing this as well- costs a lot, but it will do it all day
long-

scotchbrite is also good- you can get it in formats to fit most any
sander or grinder.
