I've often wondered about that. Makes good sense that glass would knapp
like flint.

I was at an SCA event where we had a flint knapper, although that was
quite
a while ago. I suspect you'd have your best luck getting more
information
from the buckskinners, and maybe Revolutionary reenactors- Civil War is
a
bit too late, generally.
I do remember from the demo I watched at the event that the knappers
were
also using glass. Apparently the same techniques apply, and he was
saying
that glass was good for practicing- certainly, it's a lot easier to
find ;-)
