Jeff, not at all; the copper doesn't care about the source of the heat,

Subject: [TheForge] Another lesson
This afternoon after returning from a FABA meeting (smithing content) I was
welding a thumb screw type tab on a bolt that didn't have much length so i
wanted to protect the threads from the molten rod/splatter and put a length
of scrap copper tubing over the threads knowing as I do that the 6013
wouldn't weld to the copper since I sometimes use a copper damn to stop the
molten rod. But, you guessed it, the weld attachen the copper tubing rather
well to the bolt and I got to chisel, pry and grind the copper from the
bolt. Does this surprise those of you who know which is the shinola.
