Sissy? Nah, I don't think so.

Ask the Germany army, circa 1917. They referred to Scotsmen in kilts as the "ladies from hell".

I remember reading about a fellow who was shipping back to Britain at the close of WW2, he was traveling on a troopship around Portugal when they were hit by a winter storm. He was looking out of a porthole when he thought he saw a man standing on the deck, despite the cold, sleet, and high winds. Donning a slicker, he ventured out to see who it might be, and when he could see, it turned out to be a Scottish soldier. In his kilt, defying nature's fury.

I don't own or wear them myself, but I don't think of those who do as sissys. Down here in south Georgia in the summertime, it might prevent the dreaded crotch rot, since you have a bit more air circulation.
