Justin,

I worked for a jeweler for years. If all she is looking for is a hammered 
look just tap it with a ball peen, that should do the trick.  But you need 
to know if it is solid or hollow.  If it is hollow don't hit it too hard or 
you will just have a crushed ring (and they are hard to fix but not 
impossible).  Best of luck.
