Hey James,
I believe the fine tpi presses are better suited for cold work, where speed
is less important than pressure.
The coarse tpi machines move the hot metal more efficiently, before the dies
suck the heat away.
Pre heating the dies can help.
There supposedly are presses with compound screw pitches and a pressure
activated compound nut that changes from coarse to fine pitch when
resistance is met.
