I'm not shure how much you know but  as a newbie myself here is what I 
have learned so far. First off  use 2% thoriated   ( sp?) tungesten 
rod.  Used on steel and S. steel . there is also a pure tungesten rod 
but that is used on aluminum.  The rest is just a matter of getting the 
right size tungesten and filler rod  for the thickness of the material 
and heat needed.
