Yes. I wear hearing protection around anything noisy, even driving the car.

I spent too many years drilling with a 353 Detroit Diesel staring me in the 
face almost within arms reach. Between the ringing exhaust, turbo and intake 
noise my ears would ring for hours after work and I wore plugs inside my 
muffs.

My hearing sucks and I try hard to keep what I have left.
